Scouts will tour our Museum Exhibition Navel Gazing: Artists Visions of Florida. During the tour, Girl Scouts will see an extraordinary selection of artworks celebrating diverse views of our state. Artists native to Florida and abroad were asked to investigate our state’s image and culture by creating new works of art in all media.
After the tour, the Girl Scouts will go to the Museum School’s studios to paint their own views of Navel Gazing. A great start or continuation for girls working toward their Visual Arts IP.
Date: Sat., Feb.13, and Sat., March 13, 2010. Pre-registration is required. Time: 10:00 to 12:30 p.m. Location: Brevard Art Museum, 1520 Highland Ave., Melbourne Other: Girls may register individually. Min/Max: 8/15 Cost: $15 per Girl Scout; no charge for chaperones. Open Studio

Pottery and sculpture open studio students are encouraged to use open studio time to continue projects begun in class. Open studio time should not be used for new projects. Days and times of the clay open studio will be announced and posted for students. Attendees must be currently enrolled in a pottery or sculpture class and be able to work independently. All students are required to clean up after themselves and are required to sign in and out and do lab chores to maintain the free open studio time. This time is not intended to take the place of a production studio. The pottery department reserves the right to limit the amount of pottery produced. |

We will expore painting techniques in order to expand and enrich the look and meaning of art projects. The boundaries of the class will be defined bsed upon the wants and needs of the students enrolled in order to further their abilities. This could include portraiture, still lifes, mixed media, or other areas of interest. Students are encouraged to bring in past painting projects that they would like feedbak on and help with. We will also explore painting on gold leaf, using different mediums to change the properties of your paints, different techniquest in applicationand glazing.

This class is for all skill levels of drawing with an aim to improve our approach and techniques. Beginners will learn the foundations for drawing. The course will include figure drawing, landscape, still lifes and other areas of interest.

Sharpen your skills in posing techniques both in studio and under early evening and nighttime lighting conditions. Imagine eight weeks of learning to post both individuals and small groups for portraiture either in a studio or in natural outdoor locations.
This is not a lab course, so either a film or digital camera may be used. NOTE: A SLR either film or digital is recommended. A sturdy tripod is also recommended but not necessary.

501 - Glass Fusing and Slumping

Amaze yourself in an exploration of glass. Learn to cut and fuse glass and then slump into a mold. Experiment with a variety of projects- jewelry, small bowls, plates and more.
